The Jackson-Butts County Rotary Club promotes childhood literacy by providing new books for Christmas. The club held a "wrap party" during a regular meeting and turned 150 quality, award-winning children's books into fun gifts for pre-school age kids at the McIntosh Trail Head Start school. Later that week, club members and Santa (also a fellow Rotarian) met at the school to help personally hand out the gifts to the kids in each classroom. We also purchased and donated 50 books to the City of Jackson for their "Christmas with Santa" event.
The Jackson-Butts County Rotary Club sponsors $500.00 to pay for a catered full-course Thanksgiving meal for our community's senior citizens. Club members help serve drinks, meals, desserts, and clean up. The seniors enjoyed the great food, music and dancing!
Our club gave a $500 contribution to help provide a nice baked chicken dinner and dessert for a special Valentine's Day treat to 88 seniors of our community. After dinner they danced to a variety of tunes provided by a DJ. The dinner and dance was held at the county administration building.
